Terms of Service

1. The service

Merlise decomposes documents into individual factual claims and reports a calibrated probability for each, with links to the records consulted. The service is assistive. It supports human review and does not replace the professional judgement of the people who use it.

2. Accounts and eligibility

You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. You must be able to form a binding contract to use the service, and you may not use it if you are barred from doing so under applicable law.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the service, including by attempting to disrupt it, reverse engineer it, access it through unauthorised means, or use it to violate the rights of others or any applicable law.

You will not upload content you do not have the right to process, and you will obtain any consents required before submitting documents that contain personal or confidential information.

4. Your content

You retain all rights to the documents and data you submit. You grant Merlise a limited licence to process that content solely to provide the service to you, including retrieval, verification, and generating the outputs you request.

We do not use your content to train foundation models. Aggregated, de-identified usage statistics may be used to operate and improve the service.

5. Intellectual property

The service, including its software, models, and design, is owned by Merlise and its licensors. These terms do not grant you any rights in the service other than the right to use it as permitted.

6. Fees

Paid plans are billed as described in your order or subscription. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. We may change pricing on renewal with reasonable notice.

7. No professional advice

Merlise does not provide legal, financial, medical, or other professional advice. Verification outputs are probabilistic and may be incomplete or incorrect. You are responsible for any decision you make based on them.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The service is provided on an as is and as available basis, without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Merlise will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability will not exceed the amounts you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim.

9. Term and termination

You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or if required to protect the service or its users. On termination, your right to use the service ends and we will handle your content in line with the Privacy Policy.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. We will post the updated version with a new effective date and, where the changes are material, give reasonable notice. Continued use after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Merlise is established, without regard to conflict of law rules. Questions about these terms can be sent to hello@merlise.co.
