Privacy Policy
Last updated June 2026
This policy explains what information Merlise collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website and to the Merlise application.
1. Information we collect
Account information you provide, such as your name, work email, organisation, and role. Usage information generated as you use the service, such as log data, device and browser information, and feature interactions. Content you submit for verification, including documents and the claims and evidence derived from them.
2. How we use information
To provide, secure, and improve the service; to verify claims and return calibrated readings with their sources; to communicate with you about your account; and to meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use customer content to train foundation models.
3. Legal bases
Where the GDPR applies, we process personal data on the bases of performance of a contract, our legitimate interests in operating and improving the service, your consent where required, and compliance with legal obligations.
4. Sharing
We share information with service providers who process data on our behalf under contract, such as hosting and infrastructure providers, and with authorities where required by law. A current list of subprocessors is available on request.
5. Retention
We keep personal data for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet legal and accounting requirements, then delete or de-identify it. You can request deletion of your content at any time, subject to limited retention required by law.
6. Security
We use encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and least privilege practices. Single sign on through SAML is available. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. International transfers
Where personal data is transferred across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses. Details are described in our GDPR notice.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact hello@merlise.co. You may also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority.
9. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies that are necessary for the site to function and, with your consent, analytics cookies that help us understand usage. You can manage non essential cookies through the banner and your browser settings.
10. Children
The service is intended for organisations and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
11. Changes and contact
We will post any updates here with a new effective date. Questions about this policy, or requests relating to your data, can be sent to hello@merlise.co.
